Ethical Solutions to Nuisance Wildlife Conflicts

The most common bat species we find in residential buildings in the Northeast is the small brown bat. Unfortunately as much as 90% or more of their population has been wiped out by white nose syndrome, a fungal infection spread thru bat populations primarily during hibernation. Although the population has been largely decimated we do still see bat infestations quite regularly. While bats appear quite large while in flight, they can actually squeeze thru cracks as small as 1/4 inch. It takes a trained knowledgeable professional to properly solve bat infestations. NWS has years of experience dealing with bat issues and 100% guarantees a bat free home

One of the most widespread problems in the Northeast. Small nocturnal squirrels about 4-6 oz with large beady eyes and a skin membrane connecting their wrist to ankle. These squirrels stay mostly up in the trees and are active only at night.  Flying squirrels don't actually fly. They glide, jumping from high tree limbs, they use their skin membrane as a wing and their tail as both rudder and brakes. These squirrels keep quite a regular schedule. Generally you will hear them in your ceiling and walls, most times on the upper level of your home. Often times you will hear them leaving their nesting area just after sunset and returning  just before sunrise. All of our flying squirrel work is backed by our 100 % guarantee

Both red and grey squirrels are diurnal, meaning they are active during daylight hours. These squirrels often decide to live in peoples attics, garages, soffits, and crawl spaces. We have even seen them nesting in stand by generators. These squirrels have a tendency to chew on just about everything in their immediate area. It is very important to act quickly when these critters take up residence in your home to avoid costly repairs of electrical wires, woodwork, and just about anything they have access to. In most cases these squirrels need to be trapped and relocated, followed by site modification to help prevent future issues

Raccoons are a very common nuisance  species. Nocturnal in nature they primarily cause conflicts when mother raccoons are looking for a quiet, dark place to rear their young. Raccoon families are often split up and babies orphaned by inexperienced trappers. At NWS we do our best to avoid this situation and cause both the animals and the homeowners as little stress as possible, while solving the homeowners concerns rapidly and efficiently

Skunks and humans generally don't get along for obvious reasons. Often times it is features of our property and landscaping that almost invites altercations. Under decks, sheds, pools, outbuildings, rock walls, and wood piles are all common places to find skunks in your yard. NWS offers services to both trap and remove active animals as well as site modifications to prevent future issues. Without site modification skunk problems tend to be an annual event

Porcupine are generally quite docile, slow moving, herbivore animals. When a porcupine takes up residence in a man made structure they tend to be quite destructive. They love to chew on untreated wood, and more and more we have seen them chewing on newer plastic coated electrical wires. porcupine issues are usually not easily solved and requires creativity and thinking outside the box. Save yourself some time and money, call NWS we will not take your money unless we genuinely believe we can solve your problem

AKA Groundhog. Groundhogs and gardeners have been long time foes. Groundhogs cant resist a tender young crop of spring vegetables. Another major problem they cause is that they excavate extensive networks of tunnels. These tunnels can cause major problems under foundations, pools, rock walls, and gardens. Groundhogs have a tendency to be picky about their food and often wary of traps, making them difficult to catch. NWS uses a variety of techniques and baiting strategies  to yield results far better than the industry standard

While true chipmunk problems are few and far between, conflicts with chipmunks do happen. While in many cases it is not necessary to remove chipmunks from a property, we have seen damage caused by chipmunks.  Extensive tunneling under above ground swimming pools, a caved in slab foundation, and every young apple stolen from prized fruit trees. These are a few of the problems we have witnessed first hand caused by these tiny critters

Nuisance birds can be a big problem. Birds are not only annoying but they are filthy and spread disease. Every bird situation is different. A thorough inspection and action plan is needed. At NWS we use a variety of materials and methods to solve bird conflicts. Bird nets, spikes, bird wire, bird slope, shock track, and audio or visual devices are the most common. Anyone can buy these materials but NWS has the knowledge and know how to to make them as effective as possible.

NWS will never take a penny from any client unless we honestly believe we can provide a solution to the wildlife issue at hand. (Inspection fee may apply)
